Back the Terre di Pisa Food & Wine Festival, the food and wine festival in October, organized by Chamber of Commerce of Pisa in collaboration with trade associations, which aims to spread the culture of quality food and drink of the Lands of Pisa with a careful eye on health and food safety according to the ancient dictate of Hippocrates 'make food your medicine'.

La 9 edition of the exhibition-market with tasting of products, seminars, workshops and guided wine tastings this year takes place outdoors in the central piazza Vittorio Emanuele II from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th October.

The large exhibition space will host 80 manufacturers agri-food and wine products of the Terre di Pisa that will be able to meet the public live, tell, taste and sell products from the area: cheeses, cured meats, pasta, truffles, honey, chocolate, sweets and preserves, oil, wine, beer and liqueurs . Producers, those participating in the event, who adhere to a specification that combines the quality of the ISNART (National Institute of Tourist Research) hospitality and the typical products of the Tuscany Showcase project.

I want to thank the municipal administration of Pisa for the effective collaboration they are showing us for an event that is certainly not trivial to be organized especially at this juncture ".

Focus on wine, oil and chocolate. Particular attention will be paid to wine. Besides 4 wine masterclasses to be held inside the Affari building, guided tours are planned that will be a real moment of study and knowledge to focus the attention on the Pisan territory, starting from the specificity of the Doc Terre di Pisa. L'oil delle Terre di Pisa, one of the key products of the Tuscan culinary tradition, is among the protagonists of the event. In the Oil Bar it will be possible to participate in guided tastings to begin the journey of knowledge of the organoleptic characteristics of oils and receive suggestions on food pairings. The chocolate will be the protagonist of the final competition open to the public where the participants, guided by experts, will be guided in the discovery that will lead to celebrate the best.

An eye to health and to children. The experts of the Nutrafood center of the University of Pisa will provide visitors, through laboratories, games and quizzes, with information on conscious purchases and consumption in the food sector, touching on the theme of food safety in the kitchen, explaining how to recognize apples or how to buy the fish of our seas, what are the friendly microbes, edible insects and because pecorino is a friend of the heart. The Keith murals Haring will be the background to the activities, all free, reserved for children, carried out in collaboration with the University of Pisa, the Slow Food conduct of Pisa and Monte Pisano, the Volaria Association, Francesca Bianchi and Elisa Bani. Children and teenagers will be invited to transform themselves into young artists to tell the products of the earth and the table. Activities that will end with a tasty Terre di Pisa snack.

The 'Terre di Pisa Food & Wine Festival' is also an opportunity to visit the city of Pisa and discover the territory 'beyond the Tower'. Museums and tourist sites offer discounted or free admissions. The tourist guide associations will take visitors to discover the more or less hidden beauties of Pisa, through guided circular itineraries that touch the historic districts, the Arno river up to the marvelous Piazza dei Miracoli. The agencies have designed accommodation proposals and themed experiences 'art & culture', food and wine, outdoor, shopping: wine or extra virgin olive oil tastings, guided tours in the cellars, cooking classes in Valdera, truffle hunting in San Miniato , relaxation at the Terme di Casciana or at the Bagni di Pisa, guided tours of the San Rossore estate or excursions along the paths of Monte Pisano.
