It will be one VOLTERRAGUSTO full of meanings that which on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 October and from Saturday 30 October to Monday 1 November is preparing to host Volterra (PI).

In a very complex period, the signal that comes from the confirmation of an event now part of the recent history of this city is the desire to look forward with confidence, experiencing a context of lightness and sociability also as an opportunity to rediscover traditions, places and cultures: the all in compliance with anti-Covid security measures, including the obligation of a Green Pass to access closed spaces and take part in the many activities proposed.

The beating heart of the event - set up between Piazza dei Priori, Le Logge di Palazzo Pretorio, the room in Via Turazza and the cellars of Palazzo Viti - will be the 15rd edition of the EXHIBITION OF THE WHITE TRUFFLE AND TYPICAL PRODUCTS OF THE HIGH VALDICECINA at 20 pm (on Saturdays) and from 10 am to 20 pm on the other days - His Majesty the truffle will be celebrated alongside the many producers who will offer cheeses, wine, jams, desserts, chocolate and much more.

"FOOD IS CULTURE" is the "spot" of the review, which will be developed through moments that will combine the local gastronomic riches with the unique historical, architectural and landscape heritage that Volterra is able to offer. Many initiatives around the city, but this year also many proposals that will allow a dip in one of the richest and most fascinating areas of Tuscany: the guided tour of the VOLTERRA SALT PANS, with a look at the "salt waterfall" and tasting of Beer with Salt; the appointment at the TARTUFAIA DI SAN QUIRICO together with local truffle hunters and their inseparable hounds; EXCURSION IN THE WOOD OF BRIGNONE with tasting of the "spirits of the wood"; the now traditional WALK “FROM VINEYARD TO VINEYARD” among vineyards and local wines.

In the city we recommend the VISIT TO THE TORRE DEL MASCHIO of the splendid Medici Fortress today used as a penitentiary, also including the Gardens of the Prison; the performance of the HISTORICAL GROUP, CITY OF VOTERRA MUSIC BANDERS AND MUSICIANS in Piazza de 'Priori; the RENAISSANCE AT TABLE, a fascinating journey that the Civic Art Gallery wanted to dedicate to the art of banquets at the Medici Court; the original TRUFFLE EXHIBITIONS, flanked by themed meetings, at Kalpa Art Living; and again the thematic bookshop FOOD FOR THE MIND at the historic Libreria de l'Araldo, with an unmissable selection of strictly truffle-centric books and publications.

Inside Palazzo dei Priori, the Sala del Maggior Consilio will host important opportunities for meeting and reflection with the initiatives "WINE TASTING IN THE AGE OF SOCIAL MEDIA", with Simona Geri (AIS Sommelier and social communicator) and Carlotta Salvini (best sommelier Fisar 2019), and "BIO AND SUSTAINABILITY", talk with Roberto Cipresso Winemaker followed by tasting with Sara Cintelli. Without forgetting one of the most anticipated moments of the event: the JARRO AWARD, an award intended for those who have distinguished themselves in the professional field in spreading the culture of good food. The journalist and writer FABIO FRANCIONE, curator of the new edition of "Science in the kitchen and the Art of eating well" by Pellegrino Artusi (ed. La Nave di Teseo 31), collected it on Sunday 2020 October, for the important promotion work and disclosure of the work that can be considered the founding book of Italian cuisine written by a great master on the occasion of the bicentenary of his birth.

This and much more to experience in the two weekends of VOLTERRAGUSTO: a program to discover on the event website (www.volterragusto.com) which, as usual, will offer many reasons to spend days of pleasure and relaxation in one of the territories most suggestive of Tuscany.
