A tutoring service both in front of the institutes and the most used stops

the return of students in attendance at 50 per cent will involve about 22.000 students from high schools in the Florentine area (out of a total population of about 43.000) and the return plan is the result of the work table composed by the Prefecture of Florence, the Tuscany Region , the Metropolitan City, with the delegate Francesco Casini, and the Municipality of Florence, in particular with the Education and Mobility departments, led respectively by Sara Funaro and Stefano Giorgetti, the regional school office, the civil motorization and public transport companies both on road and rail.

“About the extra-urban lines - underline the Mayor Dario Nardella and the managing director for Mobility Francesco Casini - the Metropolitan City of Florence has activated a strengthening unprecedented, for effective, efficient and safe transport, with the activation of 47 more buses in the time slots used by the students, to go to school and return home after class. We try to guarantee the right to education as much as possible, in the face of the health emergency situation and the measures prepared by the Government ”.


Five vehicles will remain available to public transport companies and can be activated even at the last moment, if necessary, on the most sensitive junctions, namely: the via della Colonna route with connection to the SMN station; Firenze Porta Romana with connection to SMN station; via del Mezzetta with connection to SMN station; connection Piazza Dalmazia - Sesto Fiorentino; connection San Bartolo to Cintoia by tramway. These means may possibly also be used on other urban connections if necessary.

Lines particularly interested in upgrading are: 2, 5, 11, 12, 23, 24, 35, 49, 72, 83, 84, 86, 87, 89 and 303. By rail, on the other hand Empoli-Siena and Florence-Borgo San Lorenzo .

Il tutoring (at the entrance to the busiest stops, at the exit in front of the schools) it will be managed by 45 private stewards specially appointed, but also by 14 facilitators of transport companies. At bus and tram stops, to check that the vehicles are not too crowded and on board the capacity of 50% is not exceeded, there will also be employees of the transport companies and the traffic police, even the volunteers of the Civil Protection.
