All ready to Siena to BuyFood Tuscany. 2020, international showcase dedicated to PDO, PGI and Agriquality products of the region, ambassadors of Tuscan taste in Italy and abroad.
The first edition of BuyFood Toscana was held in the City of the Palio in June 2019 and in addition to having been talked about in the regional and national media, it was able to generate 500 B2B meetings with a percentage of satisfaction from companies that exceeded 90%. This year the meetings between buyers and sellers will take place online from 28 September to 2 October according to an agenda that will also take into account the time difference between the various countries. There are 45 producers who will interact with 38 buyers from 17 countries around the world.
BuyFood Toscana 2020 is an event of the Tuscany Region and the Chamber of Commerce of Florence - PromoFirenze and organized by Fondazione Sistema Toscana, thanks to the collaboration of the Municipality of Siena and the support of Assocamerestero and the Qualivita Foundation. The event takes advantage of the synergy of Vetrina Toscana, the Tuscany Region and Unioncamere project that promotes restaurants and shops that use typical products of the Tuscan territory.
The inauguration of the 2020 edition with institutions and organizers is on the schedule Tuesday September 29 11.00 am in the complex of Santa Maria della Scala, the splendid location in the heart of the city made available by the municipal administration. To give everyone the opportunity to follow the inaugural moment, it will be broadcast live on the web on www.regione.toscana.it, www.intoscana.it, on the FB profiles of buyfoodtoscana, intoscana.it, cameracommercioFI, vetrinatoscana.it and YouTube di Intoscana .it and vetrinatoscana.it.
Il September 30thinstead, the spotlight will be on the Loggia dei Nove in Palazzo Pubblico which will be transformed into a virtual-real television set in the open air where the protagonists will be the regional DOP, IGP and Agriqualità products. There will be two cooking shows organized in collaboration with the regional project of Vetrina Toscana which will be broadcast live on the web, the first dedicated specifically to the English-speaking public (live on Visittuscany's FB profile). At 11.00 the chef Silvia Baracchi of the Il Falconiere restaurant in Cortona, led by the journalist Helen Farrell, will lead the audience connected to the preparation of the first recipe. At 16.00 pm space for the second cooking show, with chef Stefano Pinciaroli from the PS restaurant in Cerreto Guidi and with the incursions of the journalist Simona Bellocci.
THE1 2 and October, another BuyFood initiative: a group of national journalists will participate in an educational tour to discover Tuscan PDO and PGI products. The idea of the organizers and consortia participating in the event is to turn the spotlight on the production process in the area where the 'champions' of Tuscan food are born. Participants will witness the processing of Pecorino Toscano DOP, discover the secrets of Finocchiona IGP, Cinta Senese DOP and Prosciutto Toscano DOP. They will then visit a typical Sienese sweets company such as Ricciarelli di Siena PGI, the first Italian dessert protected for Italy, and Panforte di Siena PGI. Finally, before leaving, they will taste the Chianti Classico DOP and Toscano IGP Extra Virgin Olive Oils in an oil mill in Chianti.
Five categories of products that the manufacturing companies will bring to BuyFood Toscana 2020: "cheeses, milk and derivatives”, Represented by the Pecorino delle Balze Volterrane DOP and the Pecorino Toscano DOP; "extra virgin olive oil”, Which will have for alfieri the Chianti Classico DOP extra virgin olive oil, the Seggiano DOP extra virgin olive oil, the Terre di Siena DOP extra virgin olive oil and the Toscano IGP extra virgin olive oil; "breads, sweets and flours”, With the Cantucci Toscani IGP, the Pane Toscano DOP, the Panforte di Siena IGP and the Ricciarelli di Siena IGP, to which are added fresh filled pasta and, for Agriqualità, dry pasta; "plant products”, Represented by Marrone del Mugello PGI and Agriqualità toasted barley; "cold cuts and fresh meats”, Present in force with Cinta Senese PDO, Finocchiona PGI, Lardo di Colonnata PGI, Mortadella di Prato, Tuscan Ham PDO, Italian Salamini alla Cacciatora PDO and White Beef from the Central Apennines PGI.
