The scientific association Pallium Onlus of Florence, with the patronage of City of Florence and District 3, arranged for 17 and 24 September and 1 October 2020 a series of meetings whose common thread will be the sense of responsibility, individual and collective.

It is the right time to become responsible for ours feel good and that of others, because we have understood that we cannot be completely separated from others.

Three meetings, which will take place on Thursday in Bartali square (Florence, in front of the Gavinana shopping center), will offer the opportunity to address some issues of our daily life, including the fundamental task that every citizen can carry out to be of help to himself and to others. The meetings, promoted by the Pallium association, will have the purpose of making people reflect on how to live some situations linked above all to the difficult moment we are experiencing but also offer a comparison on some individual choices that everyone is called to face in their own life.

1st meeting - COVID-19: Meanings of a pandemic

Thursday 17 September 2020 16.00 pm | 18.00

Politicians, scientists, economists and even philosophers, for months, in addition to the specific assessments on the pandemic, have argued that what happened due to the Covid emergency will inevitably lead to a change in our society. The citizen, tried by the difficult situation, in some cases by illness or worse by the loss of loved ones, prostrated by the inevitable economic consequences, often, instead of reacting, poses as a helpless victim.

The state of psychophysical well-being that defines health (WHO) includes the very right of each subject to aspire to it. This obliges governments to intervene in the treatment as well as in the prevention of the disease. Prevention includes concrete interventions but also and above all educational interventions, which become effective when the citizen makes them his own.

The Pallium Onlus scientific association Since 2001 in Florence, she has assisted at home oncological, neurological and elderly patients in non self-sufficient conditions through a specialized and free service which aims to limit access to hospitals or other hospitalization facilities. The patient is followed in any phase of the disease, from the moment of diagnosis, in agreement with the general practitioner. Pallium's welfare interventions intensified to coincide with the pandemic. This highlights, if necessary, how much the enhancement of care at home represents for the health organization itself an urgent choice.
