Starting today, F-Light, the Florence Light Festival, named for this 2020, in homage to Dante, Sight, from the dark forest to the light. Promoted by the Municipality of Florence and organized by MUS.E, with the artistic direction of Sergio Risaliti, F-Light Sight, until the day of the epiphany, will cover urban spaces with new light, thanks to video-mapping, projections, lightshow and artistic installations: an event among the most important of its kind, which has become a reference point also in European context, and offered this year to the city with courage and generosity, in the belief that leaving the dark forest of Dante's memory is the most desired and sought after thing by each of us. For these days of celebration, therefore, light will not only be an ephemeral decoration, but a metaphor and a vision of the future to which we can entrust our hope.

The event, realized thanks to the contribution of the Chamber of Commerce of Florence, with the precious support of Terna Spa and the support of CONAD and MUKKI, will involve, as always, numerous Florentine places, reshaping the nocturnal profile of the city: dto the main squares in Ponte Vecchio, from Forte Belvedere to medieval towers and gates, from Palazzo Medici Riccardi to the Museo Novecento, in addition to the neighborhoods outside the historic center. A special tribute will be dedicated to hospitals, a precious bulwark in the resistance to the enemy that has upset our present.

Two i videomapping of this year's edition, which from 17.30 pm to 22 pm, will animate Palazzo Medici Riccardi (artistic projection by MBVision) and Ponte Vecchio, transforming their surfaces into a canvas through suggestive visual effects inspired by the theme of the new edition of the festival. Ponte Vecchio, thanks to the light installation “The other side of the life” curated by Sergio Risaliti and created by The Fake Factory, will in fact be “frescoed” by a series of geometric or figurative images and by excerpts of verses from Dante's poem. We are all invited to reconstruct the original triplets and songs from which these fragments are taken. Even the building of the Chamber of Commerce, from the same hour, will acquire a new face thanks to the play of colored lights and projections, also in this case inspired by Dante's verses.

Curated by Silfi Spa are the illuminations that will light up some symbolic places of the city. Among these, for the first time, the Forte Belvedere, which will be able to count on a specially designed setting. And then the Loggiato of the Istituto degli Innocenti, the Tower of San Niccolò, the Torre della Zecca and the historic Florentine doors: Porta alla Croce, Porta al Prato, Porta Romana, Porta San Gallo and Porta San Frediano.

Among the places of F-Light also Piazza SS. Annunziata (with the artistic projection of Bright Festival), via Tornabuoni (curated by Confcommercio) and piazza San Firenze.

As in previous years, the festival will leave the historic center, touching all four suburban districts, with an artist's luminaria that will be installed in different points, always from 17.30 to 22: for Q2, piazza delle Cure, the Artemio Franchi Stadium and piazza Niccolò Tommaseo in Settignano; for Q3, piazza Gino Bartali in Gavinana and piazza Niccolò Acciaiuoli al Galluzzo; in Q4, piazza dell'Isolotto and piazza Paolo Uccello; finally, for Q5, Le Piagge - Viper Theater and the San Donato Park in Novoli.

Finally, the appointment with THREE ARTIST TREES, a project of the Museo Novecento born from an idea of Sergio Risaliti, which involved three internationally renowned artists, making them try their hand at developing a universal symbol of Christmas, creating real site-specific works. This will be done once again by Michelangelo Pistoletto, Mimmo Paladino and Domenico Bianchi, whose artist Christmas trees will be installed respectively in Piazza Gino Bartali, Piazza Santo Spirito (these two will be lit tomorrow at 17.30pm) and Piazza Santa Maria Novella (quest last on from December 15th). An opportunity for dialogue for contemporary art and that of the past, which connotes the identity of the places in which these works are inserted, to become a vehicle of knowledge and wonder.

The Municipality of San Giovanni Valdarno also joins F-Light Sight, participating with the installation of lights, again by The Fake Factory, on four buildings in the main square, including the Palazzo d 'Arnolfo, home to the Museum New Lands. An initiative that is part of the festival's off programming.
