I believe everyone knows Dario Cecchini, the legendary butcher of Panzano in Chianti, but if you don't know you can read this article and, of course, visit him.

And I confess that my last meal at the restaurant, before closing, was at Dario's, on a sunny and mild autumn day, a couple of months ago.

Son of a butcher, the legendary Cecchini, continued the family business and became famous in 2000, just in the period in which the mad cow disease had appeared, when the Florentine steak was banned for health reasons and its heated protests were reported by many televisions and mass media. The butcher from Panzano even organized the "steak funeral"!

Today, in addition to the butchery, there are three Cecchini restaurants in Panzano: Dario Doc (offering juicy burgers), Only Ciccia (with many traditional meat dishes) e Workshop (for steaks). In all of them you can be sure of finding good meat, cooked to perfection and many other culinary delicacies, such as the so-called Chianti Butter, a delicious lard to spread on mashed potatoes.

And then the wines, of course. After all, isn't Panzano in the heart of “Chiantishire”?
