It is the "Carriage 10 - Il Wagon of Widow Begbick ", a project conceived by the Municipality of Ripoli and the Archètipo association, co-financed by the CR Firenze Foundation as part of the "Active Spaces" call dedicated to innovative urban regeneration interventions to reactivate abandoned places intended for cultural, social and recreational activities.

Il wagon, which takes its name from the work "A man is a man" by Bertolt Brecht and the infamous brewery train run by the widow of the same name, will find a home in the garden of the Municipal Theater of Antella, a long unused place that thanks to Carrozza 10 will be completely recovered and returned to the community. In wagon, a Gabs G20 model train measuring 20.90 X 2.50 meters purchased by the municipal administration from Mercitalia Rail, a company of Polo Mercitalia (FS Italiane Group), are located seven workstations for shared work, a small and elegant cafeteria which can provide an opportunity for refreshment even before and after the performances of the Theater, e a library for bookcrossing specialized in theatrical texts. The inner walls of the wagon are designed to accommodate temporary installations by young artists and the external facades will be equipped with special panels to create street art works.

Landed in Antella in November 2019 from Foligno with an exceptional transport, and placed on the tracks that host it in the external courtyard of the Theater with spectacular maneuvers that required the use of a huge crane, the wagon in recent months it has been renovated and equipped with new furniture and the kitchen. The interventions, temporarily interrupted by the health emergency, in addition to the carriage also affected the garden, which in the summer can host events, concerts and film screenings.

To open the program of initiatives, which will run parallel to the theater season starting in the coming weeks, were the folk music of "The madmen of the junks" and photo exhibition “Strangers” by Anna Haze, scheduled until the end of October. Tonight at 20.30 they will get into the carriage "Short Poems, Crude and Without Music" of the Tuscan actor and director Paolo Migone. Tomorrow Sunday 4th October (always at 20.30) space instead for short films with Irregular screens (the complete programming of the first initiatives is attached below).

Francesco Casini, mayor of Bagno a RIpoli

"The wagon - Declares Mayor of Bagno a Ripoli Francesco Casini - it will be a breath of fresh air for the cultural panorama of the entire Florentine and metropolitan area. It is a project that as an administration we strongly wanted, since it allows us to recover and return an abandoned area to the community, to strengthen the activity of our Theater and its quality programming and to create an opportunity for aggregation for the youngest groups. of the population with a place dedicated to their expressiveness and creativity. A heartfelt thanks to those who worked to transform the Wagon in reality and above all to the CR Firenze Foundation which believed in the potential of this project with a high social and cultural value ”.

"With the inauguration of this original cultural project, the purpose that the CR Firenze Foundation had set itself with the 'Spazi Attivi' call is fully realized - he says Gabriele Gori, Director General of the CR Firenze Foundation - aimed at supporting innovative initiatives of regeneration, recovery and reactivation of physical spaces, with social, cultural and creative functions. Carrozza 10 returns to bring to life an unused place, returning it to citizenship which can now be the protagonist thanks to a program that pays attention above all to the younger generations. After the difficult moment of closure experienced due to the health emergency, we hope that its aggregative and community value will be appreciated even more ”.

“It is in the spirit of Archetype - declares the Artistic director of the Municipal Theater of Antella and Carrozza 10, Riccardo Massai - embark on new adventures and this one will be. It will be a way to make the theatrical show convivial and shared but not only. We hope that a welcoming space will be born here, lived by the citizens of the area and the metropolitan city as a whole, in a very informal way, and that this space will be a stimulus and complement for all the realities of the territory, indeed in collaboration and synergy with them. Where a new reality grows, even those already consolidated gain and grow together with it. This is our purpose, we hope you enjoy this wagon you can feel good and that here everyone can find the warmth and the sharing of which there is always a great need, and in particular in these moments. It is also a space that, as it is new itself, welcomes news: therefore it is a port, or rather a small station, from which new ideas, young artists, young singers and musicians can also start. We hope to always be open to the new ”.

"Carriage 10 - Il Wagon of Widow Begbick ", among the winners of the “Active Spaces” call promoted by the CR Firenze Foundation to support innovative projects for the reuse and reactivation of spaces destined for cultural, social and recreational activities, it obtained a loan of 82.500 euros.
