Vieri Chini

In December 2017 the Ministry of Economic Development officially recognized Borgo San Lorenzo City of ceramics. This year the artifacts of the Mugello capital will participate for the first time in the great traveling exhibition, called Grand Tour, organized byItalian Association of Ceramics Cities (AICC) with the aim of promoting the Italian ceramic tradition, in our country, as well as abroad. "

"The exhibited works" reads the website www.buongiornoceramica.it "are re-editions of historical pieces or productions inspired by traditional taste, from common objects to others purely decorative: from the Archaic to the late Middle Ages, from the Renaissance to the eighteenth Neoclassical to Liberty, up to the influence of Design. "

Chini presents his work on Isola and Olmeti

Vieri Chini is the son of Augusto Chini and grandson of Chino Chini, which in turn was a cousin of Galileo Chini. For years he has been leading the company founded by the latter. He is back from Faenza, where the AICC has its seat. He tells me: “They asked me for one of my works, and I brought a bulb vase with a gold background. I found a very warm welcome. Massimo Isola, President of the Association as well as Deputy Mayor of Faenza, and Giuseppe Olmeti, National Coordinator, have shown great interest in the factory and want to come in person to see our craftsmanship in which manual skills are still the absolute protagonist. The Grand Tour will last a year and starts from Sciacca on 20 April. The following stops will be Santo Stefano di Camastra (ME) and Burgio (AG). Expectations? “In the meantime, for me it is already an honor that one of my works is part of this tour. If there is a return of image not only for the factory, but also for Borgo San Lorenzo and for the Mugello crafts in general, I can only be happy. "
