With a parade of "two" the new edition of the Chianti Classico Collection. We are in the second month of 2020, two opening days and for the second time the event also opens to the final consumer. 200 companies from the Gallo Nero participate and, on this occasion, we celebrate 20 years of the DOP of Chianti Classico oil. For the second time, Giovanni Manetti will do the honors of the house and welcome the guests as President of the Consortium. Two honorary ambassadors of Chianti Classico will be nominated as part of the event, two seminars dedicated to the other excellent products of the Chianti area, the DOP oil and Vin Santo DOC.

The game with the number 2 stops here and we let the numerology experts attribute any hidden meanings to it, but in reality the Chianti Classico Collection has other numbers to show, very important numbers: with this year's edition we have in fact arrived at the twenty-seventh episode of the preview presentation of the Gallo Nero wines, with 740 labels for tasting. A total of about 10.000 bottles that will be opened and served directly by the producers and a team of 50 sommeliers to over 300 journalists from 30 different countries in the world and some thousands of operators in the sector, both Italian and foreign. 56 barrel previews, for tasting, of the 2019 vintage and 127 labels of the premium type, the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione.

But one and only, he will still dominate everything: Il Black Rooster, brand and symbol of the denomination, which for the Collection 2020 is presented in an unusual guise, coloring itself in various colors. The claim of the event, playing with an oxymoron, reads "All the colors of the Black Rooster": to represent not only the colors of the wine, the ruby ​​red, the violet of the grapes, the green of the vineyards, but also the shades of the brown of the soils and the blue shades of the Chianti skies. The various colors also intend to symbolize the variety of the world of the Black Rooster, such as the different vintages and the various types of the denomination but also the different characters of the winemakers who each year give a unique and personal imprint to their wines. In short, the Chianti Classico Collection 2020 will have to be seen in all colors….

The program and opening to the public: Monday 17 February and Tuesday 18 February will be dedicated to the press and professionals, with an exceptional opening on Tuesday afternoon: for the second consecutive year, the final consumer will be able to access on February 18 from 14 to 18.30 by buying a ticket at a cost of 40 € (20 € the fee for the sommeliers of the main national associations). The seminars: as usual, the Collection also includes some moments of in-depth analysis for operators in the sector, such as the two seminars on the excellence of the territory: the DOP of the Chianti Classico Oil, on the one hand (Monday 17 February, 12 noon by Fiammetta Nizzi Grifi), and the DOC Vin Santo of Chianti Classico on the other (Tuesday 18 February, 13.30 pm, seminar led by Filippo Bartolotta).

Chianti Classico DOP oil: on the occasion of its twentieth anniversary, the DOP Chianti Classico Oil will be given particular visibility with the setting up of two tasting counters of the companies producing PDO Chianti Classico, one in the wine tasting area and the other in the food area.
