Boccaccesca: what time do you have dinner? 20 ^ edition of the food and wine event in Valdelsa

From 5 to 7 October in Certaldo the exhibition dedicated to cooking and the art of good living

"The municipal administration is doing a great job around the figure of Boccaccio, author of the first Italian prose text. In the Decameron the interest in food, cooking and the art of good living are very present, and we are in the fourteenth century ". This was recalled by the president of the Regional Council of Tuscany, Eugenio Giani, this morning, the first of October, in the Palazzo del Pegaso, presenting the twentieth edition of Boccaccesca, scheduled in Certaldo from 5 to 7 next October. "Those years saw our metropolitan city being a reference point in the development of world civilization - he added - Dante, speaking of the virtuous growth of Florence and the synergy between the various territories, explicitly indicated three locations: Fields for the Florentine plain, Figline for the Valdarno and Certaldo for the Valdelsa ".

'What time do you eat?' is the theme chosen to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the event, which coincides, in this 2018, with the year of Italian food, proclaimed by the ministries of agricultural policies and cultural heritage and tourism.

"It is a question that characterizes our everyday life - explained Claudia Palmieri, artistic director of 'Boccaccesca' -. Whenever people gather around the table they choose a time, because the sharing of food and words is full and satisfying ".
The twenty candles on the birthday cake seem to be lit up with the desire for change and innovation.

"I ask you to go back to 1999, when for the first time a demonstration proposed not only a basket of food and wine products, but all the protagonists and protagonists of a hypothetical laid table. This is 'Boccaccesca' - said Francesca Pinochi, councilor for culture and tourism in the Municipality of Certaldo -. Chefs, restaurateurs, food and wine critics, in the marvelous setting of Borgo Alto, the medieval part of the city, gave the possibility to touch the haute cuisine, to learn about its secrets, taste the various proposals. There was the ability to divulge not only the culture of food, but all the induced agribusiness, thus building a territorial identity ".

So, for three days, from 11 to 22, 'Boccaccesca' will propose the market in the Borgo, with lots of stalls full of excellent products. A journey of taste towards itinerant tastings. Many chefs will arrive for cultural initiatives or singular cooking shows. Great expectation for the Boccaccesca award that, on the final day of the event, will be awarded to the 'lord of communication' Gianni Mercatali.
