Florence Contemporary Sounds, The international festival of contemporary art and music, was born in 2008 in the Museum of the Bargello, over the years has expanded to a new form of fusion between the visual arts and contemporary music.

After the great guests of last year, as William Kentridge and Philip Miller, there are many innovations taking place in the programming of this year: from the places and the number of events. It consolidates the collaboration with the National Museum of the Bargello and opens the twentieth century with the Museum, which opens the way to a stream of innovative projects aimed at testing dialing a prestigious calendar of twelve events, including: the installation of Jannis Kounellis, Steps Alfredo Pirri and Alvin Curran, lalectio magistralis Georges Didi-Huberman Nymphs elusive, Nordic Voices concert for the first time in Italy, the young performer Lucia D’Errico, the Die Winterreise of Kammeroper Frankfurt.
Alfredo PirriSteps features, audio-visual installation realized with the participation of the musician and composer Alvin Curran. The installation is made in collaboration with the Museum TWENTIETH CENTURY. The cycle of works created in 2003 from a job at the Certosa di Padula and, since then, there are many places where they were made, but always places with a historical and artistic or political. “The Museum of the twentieth century Florence – like states Pirri – is one of these places, where the historic features combine with specific traits representative of the role it has had and continues to have Florence in the collective world. In a sense, Florence is the city of all 900 who have crossed the story of humanity, even before the advent of this century. ” Steps “is then set as well as in a place, in this magic number by creating a synthesis of all the 900 of the past and those to come.” The installation is made in collaboration with Galleria Il Ponte and Eduardo Secci Contemporary.
