The relationship between art and the sacred. This is the common thread that unites the more than one hundred works – including paintings and sculptures – on display at the Palazzo Strozzi in Florence. An exhibition – divided into 7 sections in chronological order – created by a dialectic which demonstrates the attention that there has been and still exists in the reflection of religion, aesthetics and spirituality.
Masterpieces, some of which can be seen for the first time in Italy – made between mid-nineteenth and mid-twentieth century, when the most famous Italian and international artists have proposed their idea on the subject of the sacred.
A review of outstanding works from the most prestigious international museums, some of them restored for the occasion and others that can be admired for the first time in Italy, as the White Crucifixion of Chagall and the Angelus of Millet.
The event is part of the events organized on the occasion of the fifth National Congress to be held in Florence in mid-November, which also will attend Pope Francis.
